- Small, oblong, purplish-red spots or dull white or straw-colored spots with brown edges on leaf blades. A severely affect area may have a purple cast overall, and as spots become numerous, leaves wither and die resulting in a thinning of the turf.
Conditions Favoring Infestation and Typically Yearly Occurrence
Unfavorable growing conditions such as cool- or hot-temperatures, insufficient nitrogen, prolonged wet and overcast weather with high humidity favor infestations. Spring through fall for cool-season grasses; Year round fir warm-season grasses.
